About our homes
General housing
Our general housing is for single people, couples and families. We have more general housing than any other kind.
Home ownership
Some of our residents either own their homes outright, or own a share, and pay rent on the share they do not.
We currently have homes for sale in Yorkshire and the East Midlands and East Anglia. Buyers usually have to be connected to the area they want to live in.
Some of our homeowners may still continue to pay a service charge for services they share, such as landscaping, cleaning and lighting.
Intermediate Market Rental
Our intermediate market rental homes are offered at 20% less than open market rental prices.
Housing with Support (supported housing)
Supported housing is a level of support that cannot be provided in people’s current homes, but where there is no need to go into a full-time care home.
There are a number of options available that will improve life without losing independence, such as sheltered housing, or the Supporting People programme.
Sheltered housing
Sheltered housing is generally for people over retirement age. Residents have their own private apartments and emergency call systems. A scheme manager and staff provide added support during working hours.
Semi-sheltered housing
We have a small amount of semi-sheltered homes. These homes do not have scheme wardens, but are ideal for people wanting independence and privacy, with the added reassurance of an alarm system linked to a 24 hour emergency control centre.
Supporting People
Supporting People is a government programme that funds, plans and monitors housing related support services. Its aim is to improve the quality and effectiveness of local support services to help vulnerable or older people live independently.
Our supported housing team
Our supported housing teams in Accent Foundation, Accent Peerless and Accent Nene provide support to older and vulnerable residents in some of our schemes and in their own homes, with the aim of helping them to maintain their independence and their tenancies. The support is flexible and individual, and offers practical assistance with issues such as welfare benefits, budgeting, life skills, finding employment and accessing other agencies for specialist support.
