Supporting our core services are our physical and economic regeneration activities. They provide a wide range of environmental improvements designed to make your neighbourhoods more attractive places for you to live, work and enjoy.

Through our added value approach, and our commitment to local people, we have been able to provide local job opportunities through these improvements for our residents and their communities, and support community cohesion.

Facelift schemes

We have promoted and project managed a number of facelift schemes on behalf of local authorities across the country. Some of the work involved in a facelift scheme includes:

  • Frontage cleaning and re-pointing.
  • Renewing guttering and downpipes.
  • Repainting door jambs, door and window heads and window sills.
  • Renewing garden walls, gates and railings.

We work closely with our partners, customers and residents to provide a high level of customer satisfaction for everyone involved.

Housing grants

Working closely with our local authority customers, we have delivered renovation, home repair and disabled facilities grants. We understand the importance of developing relationships between the customer and the contractor to help deliver high levels of good quality work and customer satisfaction. Our services include:

  • Consultation and surveys.
  • Income assessments.
  • Producing schedules of work.
  • Supervising work.
  • Liaising with customers.
  • Project management.
  • Authorising payments.

Matched Incentive Schemes

The Matched Incentive Scheme was developed in partnership with Bradford Trident New Deal for Communities and Regen 2000. It is purposely designed to address the problems of house condition and disrepair. Owners are liable for around half the costs of the work, the balance being covered as a grant from the funding organisation. This approach provides an incentive for improvements to private sector properties, ensures available funds go further, and owners remain responsible for the maintenance of their property.

The Good Tenants' Scheme - Tenant Accreditation

Delivered in partnership with Burnley Borough Council, our tenant accreditation scheme complements other work to rejuvenate the private rented sector. The scheme helps to raise standards and promote responsible lettings, and works alongside crime and disorder and anti-social behaviour initiatives. Its main aims are to:

  • Provide a comprehensive referencing service for tenants by checking history and factual data with the police, the anti social behaviour team, and other social and private landlords.
  • Work in partnership with the existing good landlord and agent scheme to 'marry up' good landlords and good tenants.
  • Provide housing advice and signpost other agencies for private tenants who are accredited or working towards accreditation.
  • Work closely with local agencies and local authorities to help to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour.
  • Work with local people to help build and sustain new and existing communities in areas that have been heavily affected by clearance and a decline of the private rented sector and which may have high levels of crime and anti social behaviour.
  • Increase awareness of tenants' responsibilities, both towards landlords, and the community as a whole.

The scheme has been praised by local service providers and has made a real difference in the community. It creates a powerful incentive to be a good neighbour, and acts as a significant disincentive for committing serious anti-social behaviour.

For more information about the scheme, please telephone 01282 459873 or visit the good tenants website.
