HEALTH & SAFETY/FACILITIES MANAGER

We have a  Health & Safety/Facilities Manager to oversee all health and safety matters for Accent Peerless.  This involves at one end looking after the safety requirement of the head and satellite office buildings and at the other end, our maintenance and refurbishment contracts.

The activities undertaken by the Association which have health and safety implication are far reaching Therefore we have a Health and Safety Working Group headed up by the Health and Safety Manager which is attended by staff from all areas of our activities.

All staff members have a responsibility under health and safety legislation and the Association is committed that all activities carried out are carried out in a safe manor and in accordance with safety best practice. The Association is therefore members of the British Safety council to demonstrate it’s commitment.

And remember for your own safety if you think that it is unsafe to do something it normally is.

Our Health & Safety Manager also has responsibility for our Service Contracts, in particular, the domestic and commercial gas contracts.

We currently have two contractors working in partnership with the association to provide responsive maintenance, emergency repairs, annual gas safety inspection and annual servicing of the heating systems installed in your properties.

Central Heating Services Limited undertake the above to heating systems (boilers, radiators, hot water cylinders and ancillary equipment) in our general housing stock and B.T.U. Limited undertake the above to commercial heating systems in the Sheltered Housing Blocks and temporary accommodation units.

If you have a fault with your heating system, Central Heating Services can be contacted on Freephone 0800 917 9306 or email service@chsltd.co.uk and B.T.U. Limited can be contacted on 01483 590690 or email Dawn Udy on reactive@btu-maintenance.com

Central Heating Services Limited, also as part of their contract with the Association, test annually all battery operated smoke alarms and change the batteries.

The Gas Safety Regulations place a legal duty on us Accent Peerless to undertake a gas safety inspection every twelve months of all gas pipes and appliances that are installed in your home.  It is a criminal offence if we do not comply with these Regulations and all Registered Social Landlords must comply in the same way.

The inspections are vital for safety reasons. You and your family could be at risk of injury or death from carbon monoxide poisoning if your heating appliance, flue or means of ventilation are not working properly.

When you receive notification from our contractor, Central Heating Services, that they require access to undertake the gas safety inspection, please do make sure you contact them. If it helps, an appointment can be made after normal working hours or on a Saturday.

If you do not arrange an appointment, you will be sent a letter by us and if you fail to respond to this, our solicitors will write to you serving you with an Injunction. Any legal costs incurred by Accent Peerless gaining access to your property will be recovered from you. It is therefore important that you do respond.

To book an appointment please contact either our Gas Servicing Contractor Central Heating Services Limited on Freephone: 0800 917 9306 or you can contact our Customer Services Team on 01276 852900.
