Here at Accent Nene we have pulled out all the stops in this year's reinvestment programme, spending over £2.3 million on improvements to our residents' homes - an impressive sum. It's been out with the old, in with the new, with hundreds of residents benefiting from brand new fitted kitchens, bathrooms, windows and heating systems. On top of this, we have carried out numerous estate improvements including renewed fencing and communal kitchens and the installation of automated doors, new bike racks and upgraded gating.
As a result, Accent Nene have made nearly 700 improvements to their residents' homes over the last year and will continue to work with their residents to improve many more homes in the future.
The April edition of Nene News is now available to view on-line. This edition is packed full of interesting articles, including our Five year major works reinvestment programme, the launch of our new Housing Management System (ActiveH) and an article on how we calculate your rent. We also reveal the winner of the Photo Competition and the winner of the Accent Nene Community Award along with details on how to enter for this years Gardening Competition. There’s also a 'Coronation' theme with a delicious recipe for Coronation Chicken and we take a trip down memory lane with the residents of Westhay Court sharing their memories of the Queen's Coronation day from 1953.
In today's increasingly difficult job market, Accent Nene are keen to play their part in helping young people to get on the career path. We have hired our first apprentice, Maz Tahira, who is studying for an NVQ in Business Administration.
Maz has settled in well and says "I'm enjoying a mixture of interesting and varied work and I feel all set for a good career ahead of me. Accent Nene are a lovely company with lovely staff and they are helping me improve in everything I am doing here."
Accent Nene are always keen to enable residents to remain in their home or in the local community regardless of any lifestyle changes. We have recently been able to assist Mrs Parrett to move into a new mobility apartment at Walpole Court in Peterborough, which better meets her needs without the upheaval of having to relocate to another housing development.
Mrs Parrett is delighted with her new apartment, which features a level access shower/wet room, a mobility kitchen with low level work surfaces and an internal scooter store. The property also has non-slip surfaces on the floors of the bathroom and kitchen, which she finds particular helpful.
